The Bible as seen through the eyes of . . .

“Lo, you are betrothed to me”

Happy Jewish Valentine’s Day! – a week late. I wanted to get this post up earlier, but didn’t find the time to do the research I wanted to, until now. For the lowdown on Tu Be-Av, check out the Lion of Zion’s post here.

In 2001, the greatest civil accident in Israeli history took place, referred to as the “Versailles Tragedy,” after the name of the wedding hall in Jerusalem which collapsed during a wedding celebration, causing the death of 23 guests. Among others, the loss of a young man and woman engaged to be married rocked the nation. Here is the obituary, in Hebrew and in English translation:
