to think that the great NT scholar Albert Schweitzer is on the same page as
Hector Avalos, Thomas L. Thompson, and Earl Doherty. Go here.
Balderdash. Schweitzer thought it possible to say all kinds of things about (1)
Jesus and (2) the teaching of Jesus. With respect to what can be said with a
reasonable degree of probability regarding both, he was not a minimalist or a
nihilist. Least of all, Schweitzer did not believe for one minute – he was,
after all, a careful historian – that Jesus never existed.
