If there were a Hebrew-Language charter
school near me, I would send my kids there in a heartbeat. I’m not Jewish, I’m just
smart. First Brooklyn. Now Los
Angeles. What other metro areas are prime candidates for public
Hebrew-language charter schools? A first unscientific list: Philadelphia,
Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco, Miami, and Chicago. If the schools play
their cards right, there is no reason why they cannot attract a significant percentage
of non-Jewish students. Some of whom, I predict, will go on some day to be excellent scholars of the Hebrew Bible.
