In the ancient Near East and Greek and Roman antiquity, the universal solution to the question of who could present animal offerings to deity was the following: priests without physical imperfections presented animal offerings without physical imperfections.1 At the same time, one is hard pressed to find a text which specifies that an obese individual was disbarred from presenting offerings to deity.
