Crumb is destined to be controversial. Chris Brady comments

Crumb’s art makes a great conversation piece.
It’s also a fine way to fix the biblical stories in one’s mind, since a picture
is worth a thousand words from many points of view. To be sure, Crumb has a
number of obsessions. In his notes, but not in his illustrations, he focuses on
the conflict between matriarchy and patriarchy as he understands it. A lot of
people do, though not often in the way Crumb does.
Crumb’s illustrations do a fantastic job of
framing Genesis in terms of the comic book genre. Here is a link
