Mike Koke is on a roll with a pleasant meme. I don’t like the restrictive focus on scholars who are
specialists in Bible. Biblical scholars would do well to read outside their
field more. With that in mind, I offer a list of female scholars outside the
field, and a list of female scholars in the field, in alphabetical order, that
have had a significant impact on the way I see the world and biblical
literature. Outsiders of course are sometimes fluent, if not in biblical
studies, at least in biblical literature.

Goodacre’s remarks are excellent on the topic (go here).
One thing I wish people would get straight: it is a category mistake to frame
the question in terms of feminism. After all, people approach the issues
feminism focusses on in very different ways. So do feminists. Furthermore,
feminist issues are not everyone’s primary focus. Nor should they be. The
days are gone, and never existed, in which one could say, “That isn’t
what women think.”
