The great Assyriologist, archaeologist, and historian of the Ancient
Near East, Mario Liverani, is about to be honored with a conference in Rome. He
sent me a copy of his full bibliography with permission to rework and publish
it online as seems best. Let’s just say it took me many more hours than I expected
to rework his copy into a user-friendly bibliography designed for students and
scholars alike.
The following select list of Liverani’s monographs available in English provides a window into his wide-ranging interests, which extend from the Neolithic Revolution, the first cities in Mesopotamia, Tell Mardikh, the Middle Euphrates region, the Amarna period, Ugarit, ancient Israel, the Neo-Assyrian period, the Libyan Sahara in Garamantian times, and the history of archaeological exploration of the Near East in modern times.
