thought they had wiped Jews off the face of the earth, and Judaism. Here we are
taking the ultimate symbol of hope and of Judaism [a Torah scroll] and
rededicating it and using it in a synagogue. And we’ll take it to Auschwitz. You
can’t beat that.”
If I ever found myself in the same room as David
Rubenstein, I could think of a few more projects for his millions. No problem
at all.
Thank you for sharing this story, which touched me today. It is beautiful and also quite a mixture of of conflicting and complexly intermingled hopefulness and grief and the last word not really being the last word.
