The edition of
Ben Sira in Hebrew to buy is that edited by Pancratius C. Beentjes, available
in paperback here.
For less than 20 dollars, it’s a steal. I would recommend buying it from
Eisenbrauns, but it is listed there as “out of stock.” Who knows when you would
actually receive it, if you ordered it from my bookseller of choice. (Sorry, James,
but that’s how I see it.)
The above paragraph is in reply to a question from Stephen Hebert. Check out his blog for scintillating thoughts.
John,
I would love to be able to stock everything—that way I could use it, too : ) But, the cold, hard reality is that we have less cash to burn that that huge river in Brazil.

I paid considerably more for my copy when I got it when it was first published. Lucky devils. Take advantage of that price.

I got a new copy of the Beentjes just a few weeks ago. The only gripe I have is that the paperback doesn't lie flat, like the older hardback does. Oh well. It's still a great presentation.
There are sufficient variants between the copies that the textual analysis of Hebrew Sirach alone, without recourse to the Greek and Latin, that it'd make a great dissertation for someone.

The Hebrew text of Ben Sira is available online here, in Michigan encoding and in parallel with the Greek text. Facsimiles and transcriptions of parts of the Hebrew text can be seen here. See also my discussion here.
