His name is Tony Siew. Tony has a gift for
rhetorical analysis along the lines of Roland Meynet, whose opus
I highlighted in an earlier post. He digs apocalypses, as I do (2 Baruch and 4
Ezra are favorites of mine; whoever reads them carefully will suddenly begin to
make sense of John’s apocalypse).
But what I like best about Tony Siew,
besides his wonderful post entitled Loving
God with all your mind (what hath Iyov
wrought?), is what he says about himself in his intro:
I am a pastor of an indigenous church in North Borneo,
Malaysia. I also teach Biblical Studies and Church History and engage in
Inter-Faith Dialogue at Seminaries, Universities and other Public Forums. I
have authored a book on end-time prophecy (last three-and-a half years) based
on John's Revelation titled "The War between the Two Beasts and the Two
Witnesses: A Chiastic Reading of Revelation 11:1-14:5" published by T
& T Clark (LNTS 283; London and New York, 2005). I love
watching rugby and cricket especially when the All Blacks and Black Caps are
playing.
That touches all the bases. Check out his site.
John, thanks for this, years ago when I first arrived in NZ, I taught Tony Hebrew, so it is great to "catch up" after all this time!

Dear John,
Thanks John for your kind comments about my blog. I have been reading yours for the last couple of months and find it fascinating. It was Tim who first got me enthused about Hebrew language and biblical poetry but there is much to learn. God bless.
