The Bible condemns sex between a man and a man and between a woman and a woman. They are among those forms of sexual expression, on a par with having sex with a woman married to someone else, an aunt, or a daughter, that are not permitted to those who would keep God’s commandments. Homosexuality is associated in biblical literature with pagan, fallen culture. Limitations on sexual expression are presented in the Torah as one way in which the people of the God of Abraham set themselves apart from those who refuse such limitations. For Paul in Romans 1:18-32, homosexuality is not so much a sin as the consequence of sin.
