I've read about a third of the sermons, and really enjoyed them. Good to see a robust exposition of the God of the Bible from a quarter of the church I was taught as a child to see as rather woolly.

That very well may be, apart from the mainline churches that invite Terry Fretheim or Walter Brueggeman or Ellen Davis to come preach. Yet, does in-depth preaching on the OT exist in any form in the evangelical church (apart from those churches that invite Dan Block or Christopher Wright or John Goldingay...)?

One of the most urgent tasks today is that of creating a form of continuing education for people who preach, or would like to preach, on the Old Testament.

The seminars would develop a way of reading and cultivate a familiarity with Hebrew and Aramaic, ANE context and history, and, most of all, the biblical texts themselves, such that preachers would be able to preach confidently and boldly from the texts, whether or not the texts appear in an approved lectionary cycle.
