Bible-thumping creationists and fundy-bashing evolutionists dominate public discussion at the intersection of faith and science. It is great theater but little more than that. One of the saner and more responsible voices on science-and-faith questions is John Polkinghorne. Here is a pdf I prepared, a revised and proofed transcript of Maureen Cavanaugh's 2010 interview with Polkinghorne (audio track here). In the interview, Polkinghorne introduces his chief talking points in less than 2000 words. The pdf contains valuable links to other online audio and print resources.

It is always a pleasure to see conversations with Dr. Polkinghorne appear and to read them. Thanks!

You can't give a direct link, but if you go to the Faraday multimedia page (which is a treasure trove), and type "Polkinghorne" into the search, you will get about 10 lectures that are all worth a listen.

The Prof. came to our church one day two years ago; he gave a sermon, answered questions (including my own rather obvious one, for which I now blush) and happily autographed "Science and Creation," the s/h book I brought with me on the occasion.
He was (and is). a true gentleman!
