The blogosphere, when all is
said and done, is a medium like any other. Most of what appears there deserves,
the day after it is written, to be forgotten. Most books and most peer-reviewed
articles fall into the same category. But there are wonderful and mysterious
exceptions. For example, Cynthia Nielsen’s Four Part Introduction to Hans-Georg
Gadamer.
Here is a link that includes
Nielsen’s entire Gadamer file:
The reflections are clear and
insightful. Two things, nay three, I hope for the future. That Nielsen will
detail Gadamer’s impact on the field of biblical hermeneutics at some length;
that she will stage a conversation between Gadamer and others she interprets so
well, such as Fanon and Carter; that she submit the whole for publication.
