Will Obama Flip-Flop on Afghanistan?

If he does, he will lose even more Independent voters (a good third of the electorate in the US) than he already has. David Brooks of the New York Times makes the case that the Obama administration cannot afford to repeat in Afghanistan the egregious errors of Donald Rumsfeld in Iraq. But of course, many Democrats were and continue to be undeclared Rumsfeldians. War on the cheap, war fought from the safe confines of bunker-bases: it’s a recipe for failure. 

In other news, Obama has issued an ultimatum to Iran. The whole world is watching: will Obama put his money where his mouth is? If he orders the military action he pointedly refuses to rule out should Iran continue on the path it has chosen, it will be make-or-break time for the Obama administration.
