In case you missed the most successful meme ever launched among biblical bloggers, go here for a long list of participants; go here for a great summary post. If you have participated, but are not on the list, let Ken know. If you have neglected to participate so far, now would be a good time to get your “five books” in. Here are examples of biblical bloggers I was hoping to hear from:
Pete
Bekins (very busy with more important stuff, I know); Charles Halton (an Assyriology and the Bible spin
would be nice); Duane Smith (everything
he says, just about, is abnormally interesting); Wayne Leman; Alan Lenzi; Stephen Cook; Kevin Wilson (I believe in the
resurrection of the dead); Tyler
Williams (another sleeper); Sam
at Elizaphanian (that picture entitled “Juno” made my day); Cristian Rata; ElShaddai Edwards; Pat McCullough (congratulations, Pat!); Tim Ricchiuti; Looney (who’s not looney
at all, IMHO); Kevin Sam (congrats
once again on your ordination); Rick Brannan and friends;
Anthony Loke; and I’ll
stop there, but only because I have writer's cramp.

Thanks for the invite, John. You can find my list here:

I thought you might be interested in learning about OUR Jewish traditions which embrace the real Christ. We are the Frankist Association of America. One of our members has a new book out:

These are our teachings passed on through generations. If you can't afford the book you can see the website of one of our teachers - http://www.stephanhuller.blogspot.com.

Thanks for that, ElShaddai. I hope you will alert Ken Brown. It's lovely to see Barclay mentioned. How can someone be so good and so wrong at the same time? But that is how things work in real life.
Jacob,
I had no idea that Frankists still existed, assuming you guys have a connection with the Frankists of old. Fascinating.

John, I've been thinking about it, but nothing jumps out at me immediately. All I've read for the past four years have been primary sources :). I will ponder it a bit and perhaps post something by the end of the weekend.

I can't really point to books, but there are certain authors that, when I see there name on a book or journal article, it becomes a "must read": Frank M. Cross, Mark S. Smith, Tryggve Mettinger, Nicholas Wyatt, Julian Morgenstern. Guess you can tell I spend most of my time in Israelite religion.

Pete,
A list of primary extra-biblical sources that have changed the way you read the Bible would be nice, actually.
Mike,
Those are all great names, though I am curious what things Wyatt and Morgenstern wrote that stimulated you the most. For the first three, at least for me, that's easier to guess.

I should add E. Theodore Mullen - his divine council book was formative for me.

I am finally catching up with this.

John... John, the sleeper has awakened! (now what is that an allusion to??)
